About Susan
I’m Susan Yao (she/hers), and I have been a progressive educator in independent schools for 12 years, beginning as a middle school Humanities teacher and most recently serving as the Middle School Head at Friends Academy in Dartmouth, MA. I have a BA from Harvard College and MA from Bank Street College. I’m the co-founder of Vermont Village School, an educational program in Brattleboro that reimagines school as a liberatory space for people of color.
I’m excited to work with educators and school leaders looking for a thought partner to help them support educators of color and build communities of solidarity.
I live on a homestead with my family in Bellows Falls, Vermont.
